NOTE: Twelve of the radio/music channels produced by Satellite Music Australia listed above are also transmitted on both the AUSTAR and FOXTEL satellite services. However, several of these AUSTAR/FOXTEL channels have been renamed. E.G. CONTEMPORARY on AURORA is EASY LISTENING on AUSTAR/FOXTEL.

TO OBTAIN VALIDATION OF AN OPTUS AURORA SMARTCARD
TO ACCESS INDIVIDUAL SERVICES CALL THE FOLLOWING TELEPHONE NUMBERS:

ABC: 1300 301 681 - For all regional state versions of the ABC TV, for 5 time zones, plus all ABC Radio services.
SBS: 1300 301 681 - For all regional state versions of the SBS TV, for 4 time zones plus SBS - 5 radio time zones.
WIN WA: 1300 301 681 - WIN WA is only available to regional viewers in Western Australia.
GWN : 1300 301 681 - Golden West Network (Prime). Network Seven programmes. GWN is only available to regional viewers in Western Australia.
CENTRAL SEVEN - (TEN): 1800 501 063. Ten Queensland Remote Area Television Service - transmitting Network Seven programmes
IMPARJA: 1300 301 683 Imparja Remote Television Service plus a selection of radio channels.
CENTRAL SEVEN & IMPARJA services are only available to remote area residents in Central Australia, Northern Territory and Eastern States who are unable to receive a clear FTA local commercial television signal. CENTRAL SEVEN & IMPARJA services are not available to residents of Western Australia.

(If your card has been enabled for IMPARJA, it may automatically be enabled for SEVEN CENTRAL or visa versa - if this does not happen call the service provider direct to get authorisation. However, even with automatic authorisation of commercial services, you will still have to get your card authorised by OPTUS BELLROSE on 1300 301 681 to receive television programming from the ABC, SBS, OPTUS HORIZON, WA TAFE, and all the radio and music channels.)

  NEW CHANNELS:
As new channels are added to the Optus AURORA platform or if channels have been allocated new channel numbers they may not show up in your menu. To check accuracy of the channels menu it is a good idea to occasionally re-set your UEC receiver. Before commencing make sure the smartcard is correctly inserted in the satellite receiver.

UEC 642/660 RECEIVER
UEC 660 Should your UEC remote control fail you can purchase a "Universal Remote Control" from most elecronic stores, (including Dick Smiths) - The UEC "Universal" remote control code is 0879

RE-SETTING THE UEC RECEIVER

NOTE: CHANGES TO THE DATASTREAM (SINCE DECEMBER 23, 2000) MAY MEAN YOUR DECODER WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS CERTAIN SERVICES

PRESSMENU on the remote control. - PRESS Select Channel Organisation - the Channel Organisation Menu will be displayed. PRESS Select Reset TV Channels PRESS OK to confirm

Wait for the receiver to complete scanning services. Normal service will resume shortly with the new channel line-up loaded.

For assistance on loading all Aurora AND all Pay TV services on a UEC decoder CLICK HERE

THE UEC RECEIVER is manufactured in South Africa "http://www.uec.co.za/" and was chosen by OPTUS for the OPTUS AURORA services. The UEC incorporates a wide range of connections to suit the home theatre enthusiast. The remote is a easy to use and changing channels is quite fast. The UEC receivers are supplied with excellent manual. The installers pin number is 9949 and the receiver can be re-tuned to also receive the AUSTAR and FOXTEL Pay TV services but you still requires an authorised AUSTAR or FOXTEL smartcard enabled to access any their Pay TV channels TV, except TVSN which is FTA.

It is also worth noting it is not a good idea to remove the smartcard from the UEC receiver too often. Constant removing and re-inserting the smartcard may damage the smartcard. Multiple smartcard adapters are available in the UK to enable more than one smartcard to be inserted in a satellite receiver, the adapters cost approx. $130 Australian. However, I am not aware of any Australian satellite dealers who stock the multiple card adapters at present.

If an AUSTAR or FOXTEL smartcard is used it may re-arrange the AURORA channel line-up and it will add any unique channels not part of the AURORA satellite service. AURORA channels will be scrambled while the OPTUS AURORA card is not inserted in the receiver.

If Optus have not changed their web page recently, you should find Optus supplied information on the Optus AURORA satellite service at the Optus Enterprise site http://enterprise.optus.net.au/enterprise/start.taf click on “Satellites Video & Audio” then go to Optus AURORA.

Since December 2000 most satellite decoders supplied by Austar and Foxtel are no longer able to eith access Auora at all or with great difficulty following changes to the data stream and over-the-air upgrades of the decoder software.
