RE-SETTING YOUR SATELLITE RECEIVER:

If new channels are added to the AUSTAR satellite service or if channels have been allocated new channel numbers they may not show up in your menu. To check the accuracy of the receivers channel menu, it is a good idea to occasionally re-set your satellite receiver. Before commencing make sure the smartcard is correctly inserted in the satellite receiver.

GALAXY PACE DGT 400 was originally imported into Australia by Australis Media (trading as Galaxy). They were manufactured initially in the UK - http://www.pace.co.uk/ - and later in Thailand under licence. It was the first generation of decoders for Australian Satellite Pay TV. The PACE DGT 400 was used by Galaxy, AUSTAR and ECTV until Galaxy was placed into liquidation. I understand AUSTAR were purchasing their supply of receivers in conjunction with Australis. As AUSTAR'S existing supply of PACE 400's have now been installed, AUSTAR now install the SMS receiver.

The GALAXY PACE DGT 400 has a green digital display. The installers pin number is 4252. However, this receiver can NOT be used for other than what is authorised by AUSTAR via the smartcard. There are no longer any free to air (FTA) digital television channels on any transponders of the Optus B3 satellite used by AUSTAR, FOXTEL or OPTUS, other than TVSN. (TVSN is already FTA on the AUSTAR satellite service). The GALAXY PACE DGT 400 receiver software totally prevents access to Optus AURORA scrambled signals, even with an enabled Optus AURORA smartcard. If a valid smartcard for FOXTEL or AUSTAR is not available the GALAXY PACE DGT 400 receiver can still access TVSN . Unlike some satellite receivers, the removal and re-inserting of a smartcard in a Galaxy Pace DGD 400 receiver will not damage the smartcard.

A FOXTEL enabled smartcard will work in both the above satellite receivers, but the smartcard may re-arrange the television channel line-up and will add any unique FOXTEL channels not already part of a AUSTAR satellite service. Any unique AUSTAR channels will be scrambled.... More detail information and frequency tuning details for the PACE dgt 400 receiver can be found at this page HERE

Since late 1999 Austar have been installing a new receiver manufactured by Advanced Digital Broadcast Limited
8/F, 145 Chung Shan North Road, Section 2 Taipei, Taiwan, Republic of China

The ADB ecoder has a green display and what looks like double smart card slots, but there is only one slot. However ADB must make similar models with two slots.
It has a telephone line in on the back and in the menu has options for modem settings (tone/pulse) and phone numbers, these are the boxes to be used for the Austar Interactive and Internet Services.
Info bars are Grey and Yellow (yellow for current channel) You can surf what's on other channels whilst staying on the current channel.
Software also includes the Austar Logo in the TV Guide.
The Pin Number is 3452 or 2878.
The only thing the PIN protects is "Change Dish Installation." Other things like TV Installation are not pin protected.
Donot set the decoder back to the Factory Default - or you may find the menu will be in Chinese and you will have great difficulty retoring the Australian default settings.
The ADB stands for Advanced Digital Broadcasting Ltd which is the only branding on the boxes (at the back), apart from the Austar Logo on the front. The remotes are easier to use than the Pace remotes.
Channel numbers initially were different to those listed in the guide after about 20 as this box included all Optus B3 Pay TV channels including MTV, FOXN, KIDS, SKYN, ACC, RAI etc. But these additional channels were scrambled. However a recent software download has deleted all references to non Austar channels - Except BBC World and Channel 16(Animal Planet).

Reports say the ABD decoder is much better than the Pace decoder

The ABD decoder generally can NOT be used to receive the Aurora channels = unless it has not receive an-over-the-air upgrades. To check if the decoder has been upgraded check the installer pin - Those with 3452 should be okay, those with 2878 probably will not work on Aurora. If your decoder can access Aurora see HERE
